RE: COVID-19 Transition Mitigation Efforts for the 21-22 School Year
The District’s Health and Safety Plan is available on the Crawford Central School District website for public examination. The District is planning to implement a layered prevention strategy to minimize the effect of COVID-19 on the 21-22 school year. Strategies include screening for symptoms at home, increased ventilation, handwashing, hand sanitizing, respiratory etiquette, staying home when sick, getting tested if sick, contact tracing, quarantine, isolation, daily cleaning, and disinfection.
The District will continue to work with state and local health officials to monitor community transmission and the spread of COVID-19 and reserves the right to modify mitigation efforts and guidelines.
· The January 29, 2021 Federal Order requires the wearing of masks by people on public transportation conveyances or on the premises of transportation hubs to prevent spread of COVID-19. This order includes school buses regardless of vaccination status.
· Vaccinated individuals are not required to wear a mask in school.
· The District strongly recommends individuals who are not vaccinated and under 12 years of age to wear a mask.
· Regardless of vaccination status individuals are not required to wear masks when outside.
· Each school office will have masks available for all students, staff, and visitors.
Quarantine – Laboratory confirmed positive cases will require quarantine and contact tracing. Students who are not masked, within 3 feet and not vaccinated, will be required to quarantine according to the PA Health Department guidelines. Students who are masked will not be required to quarantine.
Vaccination Status – The District will not ask students, staff, visitors, or parents to prove vaccination status, but will ask vaccination status to accurately conduct contact tracing. The District strongly encourages all individual’s eligible to get the vaccine to consider vaccination.
School Closures – In the event that spread requires a school closure, all learning will immediately transition to online learning.
Visitors – Schools will continue to limit, but not exclude, outside visitors. All visitors who are permitted into our schools are strongly encouraged to wear a mask if not vaccinated.
Field Trips and Student Travel – The District will permit field trips and student travel; however, administrative approval is required prior to planning. Organizations planning trips and travel are encouraged to select local and regional destinations. Our students and staff will follow all out-of-district school or event venue’s COVID-19 regulations.
